Clinical Education and Training
AccuVein is committed to a successful deployment at your facility. We offer you several choices for providing education and training to your clinical staff.
Nurse-Led Education
Virtual – AccuVein offers live virtual education the first Thursday of every month at 2pm EST. The 30 minute presentation led by AccuVein’s RN Clinical Educators will help you get the most out of your AccuVein device. Click here to register.
On-Site – AccuVein’s Medical Affairs & Clinical Education team will partner with your educators and clinicians to design tailored education that aligns with your clinical education goals and ensure maximum utilization of the technology at your institution. On-site education focuses on assessment of peripheral vasculature and NIR-guided PIV access. Attendees will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the on-site education. Contact us at education@accuvein.com to learn more.

On-Line Self-Guided Education With Certification
The AccuVein Knowledge Center offers a video-based education course with a skills assessment and certification.
Self guided education is available free to all AccuVein customers.

Improving Vascular Access and Care with NIR Technology
Speaker: Dr. Gregory J. Schears, MD
Description: Dr. Schears provides valuable insights around the clinical value of near-infrared (NIR) vein visualization for pre-access site assessment to preserve vein health and reduce the number of venipuncture attempts. Near-infrared technology is well suited to help clinicians implement these best practices.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the problems associated with our current approach to peripheral venous access and how it leads to pain, frustration, and the creation of difficult vascular access (DVA) patients
- Review best practice concepts of optimal site selection and reduced venipunctures to support vein preservation and improved vein health
- Discuss how NIR technology supports peripheral access best practice in multiple ways and how it directly helps support prolonging dwell times, vein preservation, and improve patient care

CRNI® RUs: This session has been approved for 2 CRNI® recertification units.

Leveraging Vein Visualization Technology to Improve Patient Satisfaction & Provider Resilience (CE)
Speakers: Thomas Hopkins, MD, Gregory J. Schears, MD and Kasey Wiseman, RN
Description: In this webinar, Drs. Hopkins and Schears will discuss how vein visualization technology has dramatically shifted the landscape of vascular access assessment how its evidence supports its use in clinical practice. Kasey Wiseman, RN from the PediNeoSIG will be sharing her insight on vein visualization and how it is used as a successful strategy for our pediatric patients.
Learning objectives:
- Summarize the AVA’s ’No Blind Sticks’ Policy
- Discuss the use of vein visualization as an assessment tool to facilitate improved patient satisfaction.
- Summarize how vein visualization can be used to improve provider resilience

See More, Stick Less with NIR Access
Speakers: Thomas Hopkins, MD, Gregory J. Schears, MD
Description: Traditional peripheral venous IV access does not involve patient’s needs or venous target assessment leading to poor planning, suboptimal site choice, repetitive sticks, increased costs, and patient/ clinician frustration. NIR vein visualization technology removes the guess work and gives the clinician more information to make better venous site/ device choices to preserve vessel health, increase first attempt success and extend catheter indwell.
Learning objectives:
- Understand the importance of how pre-access venous assessment is improving vein choices and reducing complications.
- Review efforts to adopt NIR vein visualization technology to improve practice.
- Describe how NIR venous assessment improves workflow, reduces costs and promotes best practice.
