Manufacturing Engineer
Summary of Position
AccuVein is looking for a Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer whose responsibilities include but not limited to supporting contract manufacturing sites and AccuVein manufacturing in San Jose CA. This includes projects for cost savings, product redesigns, manufacturing process improvements, trouble-shooting complaints and product line transfers. The Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer will provide direction to other cross functional team members to ensure projects deliverables are met. The candidate will not only need to follow, but to develop new company best practices and standard procedures to continue to be best in class in the global healthcare industry for Operations. The candidate will need to work closely with Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Sales, Marketing, and the final customer to troubleshoot field complaints and product design issues and provide and execute appropriate actions.
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical systems and components that support program requirements.
- Deep understanding of product/process change qualification and validation requirements
- Document mechanical component and system-level designs.
- Validate and verify mechanical, optical, and electrical designs and their related processes.
- The ability to completely design optical system of high-speed scanning device from concept to execution.
- A understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, the impacts of tight tolerances and understanding of the related manufacturing processes and trade-offs.
- Knowledge to design around issues and seek to avoid expensive and exotic processes, where possible.
- Procurement and vendor qualification activities for components.
- Manufacturing and Project Engineering lead for activities in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Accountable for delivering projects on time and to budget.
- Key participant in DFMEA, PFMEA, and CTQ processes assuring specifications are well defined and documented.
- Assure production requirements are achieved for component and assembly tooling specifications, supplier selection, and qualification.
- Review project proposals to ensure feasibility and provide comments.
- Continue to enhance engineering and leadership skills through additional training and education
- Sets the standard for timeliness, work ethic and personal integrity
- Some travel to manufacturing sites and supplier visits required.
- Preferred but not required – The skills to create CAD models and variants that accurately represent the opto-mechanical system and use them to communicate with other team members and vendors. Store CAD designs and related drawings in a self-managed PDM Vault.
Skills Required
- Examples of authorities include release, test, prepare design documentation, etc.
- Author or contribute to DHF and other technical documentation
- Maintain MRP and CAD Databases
- Communicate designs with vendors and outside contractors
- Understanding of optical properties of scanning laser systems including beam shaping, splitting, spatial frequency, losses
- Understanding of and ability to make reliability estimations and evaluations
- Experience developing scanning and imaging systems
- Dynamic, positive attitude
- Strong communication, manufacturing process, product industrialization and leadership skills
- Solid design, troubleshooting skills
- Strong project management skills
- Well versed in molding, stamping, and machining methods
- Experience in assembly equipment technologies
- Experience with managing Qualification and Validation of product/process changes
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Optical or Manufacturing Engineering. Minimum 5 years’ experience. Note: willing to consider candidates with 10-15 year’s experience.
- Experience with prototype and mass production fabrication processes and techniques.
- Ability to take designs from concept through prototype and on to mass production.
- Working Knowledge of Six Sigma
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Working knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA and Risk Tools
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Optical or Manufacturing Engineering. Minimum 5 years’ experience. Note: willing to consider candidates with 10-15 year’s experience.
- Experience with prototype and mass production fabrication processes and techniques.
- Ability to take designs from concept through prototype and on to mass production.
